Pronto Income Tax of California, Inc. Company History

Pronto Income Tax was founded in 1965 and has been operating continuously ever since that time. Though we lost the exact count a long time ago, we estimate that we have prepared approximately 400,000 tax returns in our company's history. We are a third-generation family business. The current majority of owner of Pronto Income Tax of California, Inc. is Kent Frye, a veteran of more than 40 tax seasons.

With his humble spirit and unshakeable determination to make sure that every client is taken care of, Kent sets the standard for what extraordinary service means within our company. Kent's sons Andy and Tim also work in the business. Our goal is to be "Your Neighborhood Tax Pros" in every neighborhood we serve.

Simply put, we strive to be the kind of company that knows our clients by name and they know us by name, too.

Pronto Income Tax Preparers

We are fortunate to have an excellent staff of experienced, hardworking, service-oriented Los Angeles tax preparers. In our humble opinion, Pronto tax preparers are some of the best in the business, especially when you consider our notoriously reasonable prices.

We maintain two Enrolled Agents on staff and we are open year-round. As Enrolled Agents, we are licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. If our clients ever have problems with the Internal Revenue Service or the Franchise Tax Board, we consider that "your tax problem is our tax problem" and we personally represent our clients to the fullest of our abilities; being available year-round is part of what makes us different from other tax offices.

Unlike many other tax preparation companies that always have new people every year because the old people moved on to other opportunities, our tax preparers often work for us year after year because we pay one of the highest commissions in the industry and under Kent's leadership we treat our people right.

Multiple Locations

We currently have office locations in Monrovia, East Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, and Carson. Having four tax preparation offices in Los Angeles gives us the ability to cover the entire Los Angeles County area and become "Your Neighborhood Tax Pros" in many great L.A. communities.

Bilingual Tax Agents

Another aspect of our company worth noting is that we have a lot of bilingual tax preparers who are fluent in both English and Spanish. We were one of the first companies in the United States to focus on and cater to the Latino community of Los Angeles and we are proud to continue this tradition today. We offer Spanish language service in all of our locations and work hard every day to earn the trust of the Latino community.

Pronto Efficiency

"Pronto" means "quick" or "fast" in Spanish and it is not a coincidence why we chose this name. Over the years, we have developed an extremely efficient "5 Step System for Preparing Any Tax Return" that allows our tax preparers to "be quick but don't hurry," as the great John Wooden espoused (no offense to USC fans we hope, everyone loves John Wooden right?).

With the 5 Step System as our guide, and also because so many of our tax preparers have more than 10 years experience, we are able to prepare tax returns extremely efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. By conserving our time, we are able to give our clients better prices. The more clients we have, the less we have to charge each individual client; that's our logic and hopefully you can see it.

Of course some tax returns require more time and cost more to preparer--and we can handle those tax returns, too--but in the vast majority of cases, we have found that thanks to our experienced staff of tax preparers and our 5 Step System we are able to complete most tax returns in 30 minutes or less with an average price of around $100.
