The professional experience Stephen brings to Pronto is quite diverse, to say the least.
Prior to joining the Pronto Team, Stephen taught for 15 years as a community college accounting and tax professor, including serving as the Chair of the Accounting/Finance Department at Coastline Community College, where he helped to develop a comprehensive program to prepare students for the CPA Exam.
•Here are just a few of Stephen's other experiences:
•Started from scratch, operated, and sold a commercial janitorial company that at one point provided opportunity to 200+ workers.
•Worked as a Tax Senior, via his Enrolled Agent (EA) license, in a Century City tax law firm helping high-net-worth individuals resolve complicated tax problems.
•Was employed by the IRS as a Revenue Agent, which provided him with an invaluable perspective to help taxpayers avoid IRS problems in the first place.
•Worked in Newport Beach CFP firm rebalancing client investment portfolios and developing retirement plans for business firms.
•Worked as a Corporate Tax Analyst for an international corporation.
Oh, and in addition to all that, Stephen may be the only human being in recorded history to move with his family from Watts to the Appalachian hills of Kentucky when he was in high school.
Stephen plans to offer financial planning, tax problem resolution, and college planning services in addition to tax preparation and tax consulting.
Stephen’s academic background includes an MS in Tax, an MS in Business, certification in Finance as a Personal Financial Planner (PFP) from University of California-Irvine, and a Sociology PhD research fellowship at Indiana University.
Stephen will appear as a contestant on the next episode of "The Most Interesting Tax Preparer in the World."
